Fabricators utilise stamping presses and dies to cut and shape sheet metal components. The dies are typically custom designs, created specifically for the workpiece that is to be manufactured.
PEMSERTER® In-Die technology facilitates the automatic feeding and installation of PEM® self-clinch fasteners directly in the serial stamping operation, thereby reducing manufacturing costs and optimising quality. It is compatible with both transfer and progression stamping processes.
PEMSERTER® NextGen Universal In-Die Feed Cart enables the customer to employ the same feed cart for multiple projects, thus offering the opportunity to repeatedly benefit from the available improvements.
PEMSERTER® In-Die technology and solutions reduce overall labour costs, optimise part quality, dramatically improve throughput and minimise WIP.

NextGen Universal In-Die Feed Cart enables users to efficiently and accurately feed different types of fasteners to a stamping press for single or multiple insertions. Examples of compatible fastener types are:
1. PEM® self-clinching nuts
2. PEM® self-clinching studs
3. PEM® self-clinching standoffs
The full list of compatible fastener types is available in the NextGen brochure.
Modular design enables rapid and repeatable changeover, offering unique flexibility. The system can be configured to feed many PEM® fastener styles, limiting the need to invest in multiple feed systems. This universal approach to in-die fastener installation reduces operation time, lowers the return on the investment time and improves end-product quality.

Recognising the need for flexibility, the feed system can be configured to feed PEM® nuts, studs or standoffs for multiple or single insertions, generally matching the rate of your stamping press. As designed, the system interfaces with the die and press with ease. Through the use of quick connectors, it is virtually Plug and Play. All that is needed to operate the cart is a single-phase power supply and shop air.
We have invested in a PEMSERTER® Universal In-Die Feed Cart, which increased productivity and improved the quality of our products. As we also used it for our new stamping projects, it lowered our CAPEX. This enabled MAUGO to justify the cost and see huge benefits of fastener installation in the stamping process to new customers, and even lower volume projects.
The success of this program also led to acquiring another PEMSERTER® Universal In-Die Feed Cart at our second MAUGO Stamping Facility in Europe.

An alternative to weld fasteners, the key NextGen Universal In-Die Feed Cart benefits are:
Reduction of the total installation cost.
Fasteners are installed in the primary stamping process and any secondary operations are eliminated.
Reducing work in process (WIP) and boosting throughput.
Moving to zero quality costs during the stamping process.
Fasteners' presence is verified at various stages during installation.
Reduced capital expenditure (CAPEX).
NextGen Universal In-Die Feed Carts can be used on multiple projects, feeding various PEM® self-clinch fasteners.
